Edge is buying his mother the kind of Christmas gift that you cant wrap and place under the tree.

The Canadian heartthrob promised himself and his mom, Judy, that hed buy her a house once he became a World Wrestling Entertainment Superstar. On Dec. 23, one day after the final SmackDown! taping of the year, Edge will fly to his native Toronto and do just that.

I always said I knew Id get here (to WWE), Edge said. So when I got here, I decided that one of the huge things on my priority list was to get my mom a house. Growing up, wed always lived in apartments. My wife (Alanah) and I bought our house in Florida, and I offered for her to move down there while I got up some more money to buy a house in Canada. She said, No, you guys are newly married. I dont want to step on your toes. I think shed just miss Canada.

Shes in a townhouse right now with two dogs. Its cute and all, but its rented. I want to buy her her own house. I picture my mom in front of a fireplace watching RAW and SmackDown!

Once Edge paid off his Florida home, he started saving money to purchase one in the Toronto area.

And all of a sudden with the exchange rate the money is doubling and doubling and doubling and doubling, he said. Within almost four months, I was like, Mom, lets buy a house! At first she was like, No, no, I cant. Its a house! And I said, Yeah, you can. And finally when I convinced her that I wanted to do this and it had been one of my goals, she started to act almost like a schoolgirl. She was so excited.

Edge said Judy has looked at several houses and found four that she particularly liked. Once he gets to Toronto, Edge will make a final walkthrough of the four finalists, and theyll make a final decision.

Edge said the house they choose will definitely have a guestroom.

Oh, of course, he said. Theres going to be a room for the grandkids to come so that Alanah and I can take off and go have some fun.

Im looking forward to this Christmas probably more than ever just to be able to do that. They always say that its better to give than to receive. I cant think of anything that Ive ever wanted to give more than this.

Alanah, who attended that SmackDown! taping Tuesday in Tampa, Fla., said her husband is simply a great son.

You know what they say: How they treat their mother is how theyll treat you, she said. I believe that. Hes very, very, very good to his mother. Thats something that really attracted me to him. He wants to take care of his mom. I love that about him.
