Interview with Jay's Trainer

"The Suicide Blonde--Christian Cage--WWF Light Heavyweight Champion!"

A young Canadian matman set to make his mark on the International scene is the 6'1" 227lb. "Suicide Blonde", Christian Cage.

I had the pleasure of training this young mat technician at Sully's Gym during the 1994/95 season. I remember it well. The first weekend after Labor Day 1994. It was the first year running the school without the retired veteran Sweet Daddy Siki and in walked my first student of that new year, a young athlete from Orangeville, Ontario who now wrestles as
Christian.

I had seen Christian before, he was a regular at the Fighting Arts Mat Enterprises (F.A.M.E.) cards I put on throughout Ontario. He used to come with a group of his buddies to cheer on one of their friends who had made it through my rigourous training program, Adam Impact who is now gaining some prominence working as Sexton Hardcastle. And has since gone on to become the World Wrestling Federation's EDGE.

Christian looked upon the Fighting Arts Mat Enterprises cards as a learning experience. He seen his friend win and lose some matches and decided to himself that he would like to give it a go.

Christian  was a good student and a fast learner. A bit on the small side, I remember getting the greatest kick out of him dancing like WCW's Alex Wright. I mean, not like Alex Wright--An EXACT CARBON COPY!!

After 9 mos. of training I felt that this young man from Orangeville was competent enough to make his ring debut. Now, unlike a lot of schools you must understand that I have two criteria for deeming my students competent enough to work. One...they don't embarass themselves out there and...TWO (and more importantly!) they don't embarass me!!

The match was set and Christian more than held his own, battling to a 15 minute draw with one of my other trainees Zakk Wylde.

Since that time, fans in Michigan, Pennsylvania, the Southern States and most recently Atlantic Canada have got a chance to watch Christian. In Atlantic Canada, in 1997, he teamed with his old friend Sexton Hardcastle to form the Suicide Blondes, a tag team that set young girls hearts aflutter.

The two Sully's Gym trainees followed the same path in the Maritimes that I myself blazed in my younger days. They gave the heel team of the Model  Rick Martel and Don Casablancas more than they could handle in their inaugural season.

Upon completion of their Maritime Wrestling stint, Christian and Hardcastle were sent to Calgary by the World Wrestling Federation so Leo Burke and Stu Hart could take a look at the grappling style of these two gentlemen.

Together with Tiger Ali Singh the addition of both of these gentlemen to the WWF roster gives trainer Ron Hutchison and Sully's Gym a WWF Hat Trick!!

There isn't a trainer or any other gym in Canada that could claim that accompishment! Go get'em boys!!
